ROYAL SOUTHEASTERN INDEPENDENT FILM TOUR
The landscape of independent film is changing. Now, more than ever, filmmakers have the tools to produce quality work. Even more so, we are a group of filmmakers from the South, and care deeply about making our community here better! We want to showcase this work, and highlight the voices telling our stories! We're still working out the details but we'd love for you to join us on the journey, and keep updated as we bring a different way of filmmaking to the South!
We are touring a collection of curiously curated creative content, presented by Her Grace, the Duchess of Grant Park. Or, in other words, films. Short films, for now. What we want to do is to create a circuit for southern independent filmmakers to actively engage with audiences and communities.
We want to throw a half-day of entertainment and engagement, in the form of an afternoon tea, a screening of short films, and an accompanying talkback, and then a relaxed afterparty vibe to celebrate everyone’s success.
The hope is to find more ways for filmmakers and artists to collaborate and create with the community, especially educators, local organizations, and leading community members.
We hope to first partner with local film festivals, local universities and colleges, and local nonprofit organizations that align with the mission of the Duchess of Grant Park.
However, this event is not a festival. Well, not in the traditional sense. We want to invite filmmakers to present their work and engage with members of the community. This engagement will take place in the form of an afternoon tea party, an evening that presents their work, and an accompanying talkback, and hopes that they will stick around and engage with others at the afterparty.
