Experience
I help run my family's print shop, where I work firsthand with customers needing signs and banners. What this has taught me is the importance of messaging - what do you want your audience to take away from this material, and if they’re only looking for ten seconds, what info will they take away? The same can be said of signs, billboards, and advertising spots online and elsewhere.
For the past two years I have run marketing for my short film, my production company, my public persona, and my online video blog. I have also consulted as a marketing advisor for Critical Crop Top Media, and in my producing capacity for their feature film Mr. Pleasure. I led design in creating the campaign to introduce our list of actors and messaging about the staged reading we held in July.
Earlier this year I also single-handedly (out of necessity) led the campaign for the Duchess’ Stonewall Tea Party, an event held at OnStage Atlanta to commemorate the events of Stonewall as well as an evening of entertainment. 100% of the proceeds raised from ticket sales ($400) went to an LGBTQ youth organization. The marketing and advertising campaign included :
Mailchimp newsletter before and after the event
Creation of online ads for Facebook/Instagram
Creation of billboard advertisement using BlibBoard to increase awareness (was successful in that some of our attendees bought tickets from the billboard campaign when followed up with at event)
Released press release informing different media outlets of the event and inclusion on social calendars.
In addition to marketing and advertising the event, I also helped coordinate the event, with the help of Cathe Payne and Meghan Zern. I was responsible for securing entertainment (local comedic host along with two musicians and two comedians) and being the face of the event.
And current marketing materials from this year promoting online talk show and screening of short film.
